"Corvette Summer" the movie and 1977 all over again! This is a special car that deserves a cosmetic recreation/restoration of what it was in its heyday...or, a simple clear coat to drive as a super cool survivor. We would choose the latter, but that will be up to the next owner. We do not know much about the early history of this fabulous 1970's custom- painted Corvette, other than what we have been told by the previous owner. As the story goes, the original owners took this full-option L82 Vette straight from the dealer showroom to a custom shop. There, the car was sprayed and airbrushed into the stunner it still is. While we don't yet know the name of the shop that designed and painted this Corvette, it is clear that they were artists and the quality of the design is undeniable. In addition to the multi-colored herringbone pattern and airbrushed moon-lit seascape, the car has an extraordinary amount of hand-painted pin striping. There is even pin striping in the door jambs! There are chips and losses to the paint, especially on the soft material nose and tail section. This could be touched up to blend in better with the body of the car. The paint itself is stable, but dry and should be protected with a clear coat if the car is going to be used regularly. The patina of the car is amazing and simply couldn't be replicated. Here at the shop we call this Corvette, the Ghost Rider. At certain times, when the sunlight that filters through the windows starts to fade away, the car comes aglow. It is quite a sight to behold! Mechanically, the Ghost Rider is in good shape. It runs, has new tires, fresh valve cover gaskets, and fluids. We installed an Edelbrock carburetor with appropriate riser plate for smooth starting and running. We also opted for a high-torque starter, an upgrade from the tired original starter, and a new battery. We also rebuilt the braking system, with new master cylinder, brake hoses, pads, and rebuilt calipers. There are a couple of oil drips, mostly from sitting, that we think will improve with more regular use. We have not examined the air conditioning for function, but we assume at the very least it will need a recharge. The interior is in decent shape with good seats and door cards. The main distractor here is the light grey carpet that has gotten dirty over time and shows a wear-through spot on the passenger side. This could easily be replaced by any hobbyist. The electric windows operate but are slow, particularly the driver side. Again, this is easily corrected by a proper cleaning and applying fresh lubrication. In the main, we have opted to leave the car in the condition that we found it, apart from the mechanical refresh described above, leaving all options open for the next owner. This car is a rarity and truly unique. Price: $14,250 Note: The chrome rims could be easily improved with polishing. They will not turn out perfect, but we have not even attempted to clean them. If we do, we will update. As you can tell from the photos, the Ghost Rider stands out in a crowd. We love it so much, we placed it right next to our lounge area so we can enjoy the car while we relax with a beer!
